The first three months of my exchange program in France has brought many fun times, difficult moments and lots of new experiences. When I arrived in France I had next to no idea about how to speak any French. I could say « Hello », « Goodbye » and count to 20. That was about it. I didn’t fully realise what I was getting myself into until I got to France and I couldn’t read anything, understand or talk to anyone. It was and sometimes still is a big challenge. Now, three months in, I have learnt so much. I am starting to put some sentences together. When I arrived, I didn’t think I would ever be able to do it. Arriving at a new family’s home for the first time who you have never met before is something that I cannot say is easy. The first few weeks are hard and a little bit scary. After the initial few weeks you start to get more comfortable with the family and your new life with your French family gets much better. School is difficult, especially when you don’t have a good understanding of the language. The teachers know that I don’t really understand so they are nice to me. The students at school are nice as well. The school days are very long. I have visited many beautiful and amazing places, I have so many unforgettable memories and I have made so many new friends. If there is anyone thinking about going on exchange, I highly recommend you do it, I have never experienced anything like it before.
